WHAT DOES THE INITIAL DESIGN AND CONSULTATION COST?

Nothing. We will come to your house and spend around 30 to 90 minutes working on a solution for your yard. We will customize a design that will work for your needs and budget. The more info you can provide us the better so we can meet your needs.

IS LANDSCAPE THE SAME AS HARDSCAPE?

No. We focus on Hardscape. This consists of concrete interlocking pavers, synthetic turf, rock, walls, concrete, steps, fire pits, to name a few. Think of Landscape as more plants and trees. Generally, the hardscape is installed 1st, and landscape 2nd. We can assist you with the landscape if you have the pants and trees on site or have a landscape plan.

I HAVE A SMALL AREA. DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM?

Yes. 300 sq feet.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVICE?

Most cities and communities in San Diego County.

WHAT IS YOUR WARRANTY?

Labor is 3 years.

Pavers- Each paver manufacturer will give you a lifetime warranty on breaking or cracking.

Turf- Each turf manufacturer will give you a 15-year warranty on fading and degradation.

HOW MUCH DO PAVERS COST?

It depends on the size of the area, what we need to demo, what are the details, what paver you choose, if you want us to add sealer, etc. Simple answer is $12 to over $20 per sq foot for full installation. Don’t shop for your paver project by price per square foot. You are not buying pavers; you are buying an installation service.

AREN’T PAVERS WAY MORE THAN CONCRETE?

No. This is a common misconception. Generally, pavers cost more than concrete, but not always and not a lot more. There is a saying in our industry. Both pavers and concrete come with a warranty. Pavers come with a lifetime warranty against breaking and cracking. The warranty you get with concrete is it is guaranteed to crack; it is just a matter of when. Pavers have many more benefits than concrete and we will go over this at your design consultation.

WHY DO PAVERS COST $12 TO OVER $20 PER SQ FOOT?

There is more to it than just the paver cost and labor, but those are the 2 main costs. Other costs that add to it are: demo fees, dump fees, base and sand cost, deliveries fees, pallet fees, paver sealer, labor to seal, and company profit.

HOW MUCH DOES ARTIFICIAL TURF COST?

It depends on the size of the area, what we need to demo, what are the details, what turf you choose. Simple answer is $8 to over $15 per sq foot. But don’t shop for your turf installs by price per square foot. You are not buying turf; you are buying an installation service.

WHY DOES TURF COST $8 TO $15 PER SQ FOOT?

There is more to it than just the turf cost and labor, but those are the 2 main costs. Other costs that add to it are: demo fees, dump fees, base cost, deliveries fees, sand infill, weed fabric, bender board, and company profit.

HOW DO I GET A REBATE FOR INSTALLING ARTIFICIAL TURF?

Currently there are no rebates available that we know of.

SHOULD MY BACKYARD HAVE MORE PAVERS OR TURF?

This is up to you and how you see your and your family using the space. Turf looks great and can be a perfect solution for families with kids and dogs. Pavers are a bit for functional for outdoor living and patio solutions. They also have a lifetime warranty vs a 15-year warranty. Our experience has been when in doubt, choose more pavers than turf for your yard.

WHAT ARE THE CURRENT TRENDS WHEN INSTALLING A NEW HARDSCAPE IN SAN DIEGO?

Top choices we see here at Endless Summer Hardscapes are:

  • Installing Landscape lighting to enhance the yard after the sun goes down.
  • Designing the yard to maximize functional space while ensuring it is as low maintenance as possible.
  • Installing a gas fire pit, BBQ island, or outdoor kitchen are must haves for customers who want to entertain year-round.
  • Using larger scale pavers for their patios.
  • Reducing the amount of water needed to maintain the landscape. Hence more synthetic turf than keeping or installing a traditional lawn.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF OUTDOOR LANDSCAPE LIGHTING?

Lighting provides many solutions. It makes your house and yard feel welcoming, provides security, highlights your landscaping, highlights your home’s architecture, creates an atmosphere to bring you outside to use the space once the sun goes down, connects parts of your yard to eliminate black voids, helps define areas of your patio, yard, grilling area, etc. We install a transformer, quality fixtures, and LED bulbs to keep the long-term cost and maintenance down. The LED bulbs lasts for years and take pennies a day to light up. Time after time our customers say this was the best addition the did to their project.

WHAT ELSE WOULD I NEED FOR MY INSTALL? ANY OTHER COSTS I SHOULD BUDGET FOR?

Depends on each project and customer’s use of the space. Most of our projects we install drains. We can tie into your existing drains if you have them. Or we may need to replace them entirely if they are clogged, old, or don’t flow properly. If you need a new drainage system because you don’t have any, we can install them for you. Sometimes we need to cap, modify, or add to your irrigation system. Some customers want us to add landscape lighting. We will go over all this at your design consultation.

WHAT PROMOTIONS DO YOU HAVE? ANY DEALS?

We have been around the block for years. This industry has all types of promotions. The promotions companies offer are probably false. Companies simply mark up their price so they can discount it to make you feel like you are getting a good deal and or there is a limited time opportunity so you need to sign up with them on the spot. Think about it. How can they be competitive with an additional 20% increase? No way. This is a competitive industry. You get our best price the 1st time. No sales games, no sales tactics, to calling the manager to see what he can do.

WHAT PAVERS DO YOU INSTALL?

We work with all the best paver manufacturers. Belgard, Orco, Ackerstone, Angelus, and RCP, to name a few. We will educate you and go over all options at your design consultation.

WHAT TURF DO YOU INSTALL?

We work with a handful of different manufactures. We will help you pick the best turf for your application and budget. We will educate you and go over all options at your design consultation.

WHAT TYPE OF WALLS DO YOU INSTALL?

Freestanding, retaining, pillars, etc. Most of our wall projects are 18 to 36 inches tall. The wall block can be made from similar block as a paver, or installing a gray CMU block then installing stucco or a veneer. Also, most walls have a decorative or functional wall cap.

DOES ENDLESS SUMMER HARDSCAPES INSTALL PERMEABLE PAVERS?

Yes, we do. Permeable pavers are installed to keep water on the property. They have larger joints and different rock and bedding base below them than a standard paver installation. This install is more time consuming and has added expenses. The install cost more because we have to demo deeper, sometimes 12 to 15 inches. In addition, this install more expensive due to the type and amount of base rock needed and the filler rock that is swept in between the paver joints.

DO I NEED TO SEAL MY PAVERS?

No, but we recommend it. Sealing paver with a high-quality join stabilizer is suggested. The main benefits are:

It brings back the color to the pavers after they go through the install process. They can provide a light shine if you use and enhanced sealer. Sealer protects the pavers from the UV rays of the sun, dirt, food, etc. The stabilizer in the sealer hardens the joint sand so it stays stronger over a longer period of time.

IS THERE PAVER MAINTENANCE?

Paver maintenance is minimal. We suggest you use a leaf blower once a week to remove any dust, dirt, leaves, etc. or lightly hose off the pavers as needed. No need to power wash them. If you do be careful, you do not etch them with a power washer that is too strong. Power washing them can also remove joint sand unintentionally. You may want to clean and reseal the pavers about 3 to 5 years after installation.

WHAT IS POLYMERIC SAND?

Polymeric sand can be used in the joints instead of regular joint sand. Polymeric sand is finer than typical joint sand and has polymers in it.

Another benefit, this sand comes in multiple colors like gray and tan. Using polymeric sand is more prevalent and necessary when installing pavers with wide joints, pool decks, and steep driveways. In fact, it is required on most pavers that have joints that are about as wide as a pencil. Once the sand is below the paver’s bevel, light amounts of water is sprayed across the paver surface. The water will activate the sand’s polymers, ensuring that the sand’s grains are held together within the joints. As a result, the joints become both flexible and solid.

This install will make the sand more like a grout. Polymeric sand works to prevent weeds from growing in the spaces as well as issues with ants. Over time you will have less sand loss from wind, rain, water, ants, etc. Less water will permeate through the pavers because of strength of the sand. The sand’s bond with the joints won’t break down over time even in the harshest of climates.

Ask your design rep if they recommend polymeric sand for your paver installation.

WHAT DOES AN ICPI CERTIFIED PAVER INSTALLER MEAN?

That you have knowledge of industry best practices that brings added value to the designs and proposals. ICPI certification and designations are the industry’s recognized credentials that show your professionalism and dedication to continuing your education to be on the forefront of the hardscape industry.

WHAT IS GEOTEXTILE FABRIC?

From a far geotextile fabric is similar looking to weed fabric, but it has a made from different material and it has a different purpose. Geotextile separates and contains the class 2 road base from the native soil subgrade. It allows the base to shed water, and prevents the soil around it from working its way into the base. Without geotextile, the soil can work its way into the base and weaken it over time. Geotextile stops this process and extends the life of the base by many years. Geotextile is recommended for use over clay soils, and not essential in sandy or rocky soils. Geotextile is used more with driveway installations vs patio or walkway paver installs because of the traffic and weight.

WHAT IS THE SIZE IS A TYPICAL CREW?

This depends on the size and scope of the job. Typically, 3 to 6 including the foreman.

IS THERE TURF MAINTENANCE?

This is minimal as well. We suggest you use a leaf blower or plastic rake to removed leaves or light debris from the turf or putting green. Adding sand or power brushing turf is only needed after years of high traffic use.

WILL PET URINE SMELL ON ARTIFICIAL TURF?

This can happen. It depends on the volume and frequency of urine. More dogs, bigger dogs, smaller space will be more prone to odors. There are a few ways to combat this and we can go over it at your design consultation.

DOES SYNTHETIC TURF GET HOT?

When if full sun and the ambient temperature is about 90 degrees or warmer it does. Best options are to hose it off or put on shoes.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES FOR INSTALLING SYNTHETIC TURF?

There are a lot: Added curb appeal, realistic look, little to no maintenance, save water, no fertilizers, save money, save time, pet friendly, allergy free, drains fast, dirt and grass won’t get tracked into your home, and the list goes on.

HOW LONG WILL ARTIFICIAL TURF LAST?

Your turf comes with a 15-year warranty from the manufacturer on fading and degradation. However, with today’s technology lifespans are expected to last 20 years or more.
